2009 BRAC and Beyond
The Delaware Economic Development Office and the University of Delaware's Office of Innovation and Partnership and its partners will be hosting a Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) and Beyond Business Conference on October 30, 2009, from 7:30 to 3:30, at the Chase Center on the Riverfront, in Wilmington, Delaware.
This conference is just one of a series of statewide initiatives to position Delaware Businesses and inform citizens of the Mid-Atlantic region of the plethora of opportunities and the Transformation occurring at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. A transformation that most experts suggest will impact Delaware and the Mid-Atlantic region for decades to come.
The conference will feature United States Army Headquarters Small Business Program Office officials and the TOP Defense Contractors and Subcontractors supporting Fort Monmouth and Aberdeen Proving Ground.
The conference will also feature Breakout Sessions that will help prepare Delaware Businesses with the critical information needed to position themselves as a government contractor such as, how to acquire Facility Security clearances, how to do work for the Government, information about Small Business Innovation and Technology Transfer Grants, the new Small Business Administration programs prompted by the Federal Stimulus program and much, much more.
Like last year's highly successful conference, a panel of Delaware and regional businesses currently performing on government contracts will share how they got started and what it takes to be successful. For those businesses that are already performing on government contracts, we will have Prime Contractors who are looking to form the critical alliances that can take those businesses to the next level.
A match making session with major prime contractors and Delaware government contractors will close out the afternoon.
