Maryland’s State Education System Ranks Number One Overall
National Ed Newspaper Says State’s System has Moved to the Head of the Class
Education Week, the nation’s leading education newspaper, named Maryland’s state education system #1 in the nation. Education Week rated states in the following six performance and policy areas: Chance for Success; K-12 Achievement; Standards, Assessment and Accountability; Transitions and Alignment; Teaching Profession; and School Finance. In addition, Maryland’s public school system was named #1 in the number of students taking Advanced Placement tests and #1 in the percentage of students who earn a college-mastery score (achieving a 3, 4, or 5) on at least one Advanced Placement exam.
